Programmatic Advertising Agency: DSP Buying Across DV360, Amazon DSP, Criteo and More

Programmatic advertising is the automated, impression-by-impression buying of ad space across the open web, apps, connected TV and audio through a demand-side platform (DSP). As a programmatic advertising agency, we run these buys on DV360, Amazon DSP, Criteo, RTB House, TheADX and Taboola. This is where much of people's time outside search and social is spent, and it is also where budget leaks fastest when exclusions, frequency caps and retargeting roles are not set up properly.

Purpose and appearance

What do we use this service for?

We bring in programmatic to reach people on open web, app, connected TV and audio inventory that search and social campaigns cannot reach, and to bring site visitors back with product ads. The aim is extra reach bought under brand safety and frequency control that turns into genuinely incremental sales. Retargeting always sits on a single platform.

Which DSP does which job?

We do not treat programmatic platforms as interchangeable. Each DSP gives access to different data or inventory, and the right choice depends on the brand's goal and the data it already has. Most brands do not need all six: we usually start with one retargeting platform and one reach platform, then add more only when measurement shows room to grow.

  • DV360: Broad reach that brings YouTube, the open web, CTV, audio and digital out-of-home under a single frequency control, plus PMP and Programmatic Guaranteed deals.
  • Amazon DSP (Amazon Ads Agent): Targeting based on Amazon's shopping and viewing signals. Brands that do not sell on Amazon can use it too.
  • Criteo and RTB House: Retargeting and new customer acquisition with dynamic ads generated from the product feed.
  • TheADX: A local DSP that hosts data in Türkiye, especially relevant for finance brands subject to BDDK requirements.
  • Taboola (Realize): Native recommendation slots on news and content sites, offering performance-focused reach to audiences reading content.

Brand safety and frequency capping in programmatic

On the open web we cannot hand-pick the page an ad appears next to, so we enforce control through rules. We exclude sensitive content categories, use allowlists for high-visibility campaigns, and measure viewability and invalid traffic with third-party verification such as IAS or DoubleVerify. Every month we remove sites and apps that offer cheap impressions but place the ad where it cannot be seen.

Frequency, on the other hand, is not shared across platforms: a frequency cap in DV360 does not know how many ads the same person has seen in Amazon DSP. To stop one person from seeing three ads a day from each of five platforms, we set a separate cap on every platform and consolidate broad reach on a single platform wherever possible.

Criteo and RTB House on the same visitors: why we avoid it

When two platforms retarget the same site visitor, they bid against each other in the same auction. Impression costs go up, and the same sale shows up in both platforms' reports, mainly because of view-through conversion counting. Each platform reports strong results on its own while total sales stay flat. This is the most common programmatic waste we find in accounts we take over.

  • We keep retargeting on one platform and assign the other to new customer acquisition.
  • If the two platforms need to be compared, we split visitors randomly into two groups via Google Tag Manager and test them over the same period.
  • We measure success not by platform reports but by deduplicated sales in GA4 and order data.
  • We also factor in overlap with remarketing audiences on Meta and Google and lower the frequency cap accordingly.

Programmatic Advertising: when do we recommend it?

We recommend it

  • Brands whose search and social costs have started to rise and that need new reach
  • Online stores with enough daily visitors and stock data that updates in the feed in real time
  • Brands aiming for broad awareness through video and CTV
  • Banks and financial institutions that require data localization

We don't recommend it

  • New brands whose site traffic is too low to build a retargeting audience
  • Brands that can only produce images in one size and cannot prepare video or creatives in multiple formats
  • Accounts measured only through platform reports, with no way to compare results against GA4 or order data

How we manage Programmatic Advertising

  1. Readiness checkWe review traffic volume, feed quality, creative sizes and whether measurement is ready for programmatic buying.
  2. Platform and role selectionWe give each platform a single job; we never assign retargeting to two platforms at once.
  3. Safety rulesWe switch on category exclusions, site lists and third-party verification before launch.
  4. Frequency planWe set per-platform frequency caps and the overall reach target together.
  5. Incrementality readoutUsing a control group or geo-based test, we measure whether programmatic is actually driving additional sales.

Frequently asked questions

Programmatic Advertising: frequently asked questions

What is programmatic advertising?

It is the automated buying of individual ad impressions through a DSP, usually in real-time auctions or through private deals. Instead of booking placements site by site, the platform bids on each impression based on audience, context and price rules that we set. Inventory covers display, native, video, connected TV, audio and digital out-of-home.

How is programmatic different from the Google Display Network?

The Display Network is a single seller's inventory. DSPs give access to multiple ad exchanges, private marketplace deals (PMP), guaranteed buys and formats you cannot buy in Google Ads, such as audio or digital out-of-home. They also let us use your own audience data and third-party verification in far more detail.

Can we run Criteo and RTB House at the same time?

Yes, but we do not let both retarget the same visitor at once. We assign one to retargeting and the other to new customer acquisition, or we split visitors and run a comparison test. Otherwise the two platforms push up each other's bids and report the same sale twice.

Can we get self-serve access to DV360 or RTB House?

Not through a simple sign-up. Platforms such as DV360 and RTB House are opened through a contract, a reseller or a managed service. We set up access so the account and its data stay with your brand.

How do you know programmatic is driving extra sales?

We do not rely on platform reports, which count view-through conversions generously. We read deduplicated sales in GA4 and order data and, where volume allows, run a control group or geo-based test to measure the incremental lift.

Why do you recommend TheADX for banking and finance brands?

According to the company, TheADX is the first local DSP compliant with BDDK (Türkiye's banking regulator) notification requirements and hosts data on servers in Türkiye. For financial institutions restricted from transferring customer data to platforms abroad, this can be a prerequisite. We clarify compliance requirements with the institution's legal team.
